North American Van Lines: The Best of Brooklyn Moving Companies
Brooklyn is one of New York City’s five boroughs (along with Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx). As of the 2012 U.S. Census, the borough was home to 2,538,705, making it the most populated of the group. Even so, it still provides a family-friendly atmosphere while offering tons of big-city amenities and attractions.
The area was first settled in the 17th century as the Dutch town Breuckelen, and in 1898 it was incorporated as Brooklyn. The borough features its own distinct culture, and it offers a variety of neighborhoods such as Bushwick, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Park Slope and Coney Island to suit each personality and family type.
Brooklyn experiences all four seasons throughout the year. In the winter temperatures drop to the 30s, and in the summer they can climb to the 80s.
Attractions and Activities in Brooklyn
Once you’re settled into your new home, it’s time to start exploring. Visiting the Brooklyn Bridge is a must here, and you can stroll along down the wide pedestrian walkway. The New York icon was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. Take the whole family for a walk over the East River to take in the amazing city sights.
Another must in Brooklyn is a visit to Coney Island, which was the location of one of the first amusement parks in America. Ride the Cyclone roller coaster, which was built in 1927 and is one of the oldest wooden coasters still running. You can also ride the Wonder Wheel at Astroland or play a game of beach volleyball nearby.
