A move to Indiana often means you'll be migrating to a region rich in features that perfect the notion of living the American dream! The state of Indiana encapsulates much of what is known as the Great Lakes region of the Unites states. Interestingly, it is considered a Midwestern state despite its relative location in the mostly eastern region of the United States. While it is far from the largest U.S. state in terms of its size of land area, Indiana features one of the larger total populations of a U.S. state, featuring over six and a half million residents and featuring a substantive metropolitan area in its capital and largest city of Indianapolis, along with its surrounding metro area. That is not to say, however, that Indiana's only relevant metropolitan area is that of Indianapolis, as the state features a large number of major metropolitan areas whose populations exceed 100,000 or more. This number of substantial metro regions scattered across the state's terrain allow for a particularly diverse economic climate, along with a considerably large gross domestic product. As of now, the state's total is believed to be around (or even over) $300 billion.

Indiana has been a prime location for intrepid movers since the territory's origins. The early history of what was once known as the Indiana Territory began largely with a remarkably extensive history of Aboriginal inhabitants that extends as far back as over 8000 BC. The area remained largely undisturbed by outsider and served as home for a number of original inhabitant groups for well over 9000 years, until some time in the later 17th century, when the first of French explorers began to arrive and soon after establish fur trading outposts. Once these outposts began to take hold, they would rapidly give rise to an exponential expansion of trading posts across the region, necessitating further expansion of fledgling settlements, lodging locations and more, gradually forming what would to on to become permanent, thriving settlements. Much of this early history of settlement was met with resistance from the original inhabitants of these regions, leading to conflicts that would often leave early forts and outposts destroyed and their inhabitants dead. After a tumultuous early history, the sovereignty of the United States would go on to take hold, allowing for a more substantiated level of settlement that would gradually do away with the conflicts of the time and instead foster a semblance of peaceful habitation.
