The Gary Sinise Foundation supports severely wounded U.S. veterans with a number of beneficial programs, one of which is the construction of Smart Homes for veterans that have lost multiple limbs in battle serving our country. The Sinise Foundation provides these homes, complete with “smart” furniture specifically designed for the unique needs of these wounded veterans, at no cost to the service member or their family.
When Wayne approached the van line with this opportunity, Cord northAmerican had already signed up to deliver this unique furniture to a newly constructed Smart Home for the family of retired U.S. Army Staff Sargent Travis Mills, a patriot who lost portions of both arms and both legs in Afghanistan.
The overwhelming response from Andy Kroll, Vice President and General Manager of northAmerican Van Lines, and NAMA (North American Movers Association) was a resounding and enthusiastic YES! The furniture for Travis Mills was successfully delivered to Maine by Cord northAmerican on October 15 of last year. A Smart Home dedication for Travis Mills and family was attended by the governor of Maine and Andy Kroll, who presented Sargent Mills with the very first Pursuit of Excellence medal to honor his commitment to excellence and passion for life. As the official mover of the Gary Sinise Foundation, northAmerican agents have transported this specialty furniture to numerous Gary Sinise Smart Home recipients, with 11 deliveries already scheduled in 2015. As a benefit of being the official mover of the Gary Sinise Foundation, all northAmerican agents may use the Gary Sinise Foundation logo (available on the Widen site – http://sirva.widencollective.com”) on their website and their marketing materials, along with the language “Official Mover of the Gary Sinise Foundation”.
