North American Van Lines - Denver, CO

North American Van Lines (NAVL) has been in business in Colorado continually for over one eighty years.  Founded in 1933, it began as a local cartage company draying steamer trunks from Union Station to the Brown Palace Hotel.  North American Van Lines has evolved into a regional moving company servicing household relocations, commercial moving, distribution services and storage.  North American is not “your father’s traditional moving and storage operation”. The company is well known in the market for providing local and long haul moving, packing and warehousing for both commercial and residential customers, as well as new services like logistics management, home delivery and commercial delivery services.   In January 2014, our Denver location moved to a new “A” class facility providing climate controlled, high security storage.  Our building is part of the Stapleton Business Center and one of the premier warehouse locations in all of Colorado.  Operating out of two warehouse locations – Denver and Colorado Springs, the Company is able to better service quality opportunities as they arise. Our company uses trained, full time crew employees instead of temporary labor services….the result lowers claims costs and provides a superior customer service.  North American Van Line is active in the Denver community providing pro bono services where and when it is appropriate and the company can help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whats your #1 packing tip?

Acquire a small selection of household items from old china to pictures. Store them packed in a HHG vault. Teach your packers. Start with their unpacking of the properly packed storage on to an old table, put on your professor's hat and let the practice begin..........

Whats the strangest thing you've ever had to move?

We moved all the mirror components for the James Webb Space Telescope which is replacing the Hubble. Each finished mirror had to be kept in a special nitrogen container at 68 degrees when we moved them. They were $65 million each.......and we managed to not break a mirror.

How do you treat special items?

You sales people and crew need to learn, ask and listen to the customer in order to identify special items. Not all special items might look like an expensive antique. When you understand an item is special it is monitored through the move from sales instructions to crew dispatch meetings and finally to packing and loading. Treat the item just like those $65 million mirrors mentioned above.

When is the best time to move?

The fall in Colorado. Weather is stable, crew members are seasoned veterans and capacity is realistic.

What other services do you provide?

We are active in all areas with STI, provide commercial office moving, FF&E services and commercial warehousing.

What type of charities do you participate in?

Great Plains Moving and Storage is active in the Denver community providing pro bono services where and when it is appropriate. Currently Great Plains provides at no cost all the warehousing and delivery services needed for the Denver Komen Race for the Cure and the Denver Mizel Museum transporting their displays and exhibits to schools and community centers. The Mizel Museum is known for its programs in the elementary school systems providing their exhibits educating us about immigrant history, diversity, our holidays and our festivals.
