CMSA is proud to announce Patrick “Pat” Longo, owner/general manager of Andy’s Transfer & Storage (an agent for North American Van Lines) of Glendale, California, as the 2015–2016 Chairman of the Board for the California Moving & Storage Association (CMSA).
CERRITOS, Calif. (May 6, 2015) — CMSA is proud to announce Patrick “Pat” Longo, owner/general manager of Andy’s Transfer & Storage (an agent for North American Van Lines) of Glendale, California, as the 2015–2016 Chairman of the Board for the California Moving & Storage Association (CMSA). The announcement was made Saturday, May 2, during the 97th Annual CMSA Convention at the Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego.
Pat Longo was escorted to his installation dinner by many former CMSA Chairmen. He was introduced to the membership by his wife, 2005–2006 CMSA Chairman Jill Longo. In a thoughtful and emotionally charged speech, Jill painted her husband as a caring, assertive leader at Andy’s Transfer. His leadership allowed the company to thrive while also giving Jill the flexibility to spend more time at home with their two children.
Jill also spoke of the importance of family. Pat Longo’s mother and all 5 siblings came together to attend his installation dinner to support him. Being a large family, it was a special treat for them all to be there that night. Jill gave a special recognition to one family member who wasn’t able to attend that night: Pat’s father. He was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease before he recently passed away. Although he wasn’t there with his family, Jill said he was there in their hearts.
“If he was here now,” Jill said, “he would say, ‘That’s my boy!’”
Pat thanked his wife, who he describes warmly and reverently as “impressive,” for her support in his increasing involvement with CMSA. He also thanked his siblings for being supportive throughout the years as well as during the recent health challenges they have faced as a family.
As for CMSA matters, Pat announced that beginning this year, the organization will start a new tradition called the Chairman’s Charity of Choice: an additional charity that the CMSA willdonate to at the Chairman’s request and board’s approval. For the 2015–2016 year, his request is that CMSA donates to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in honor of his father.
After his acceptance speech, Pat was formally installed as the 2015–2016 CMSA Chairman with the acceptance of the ceremonial gavel from Senior CMSA Chairman Jay Casey of Casey Moving Systems.
