University Moving - AMSA

February marks the time for one of my favorite holidays, Groundhog Day. The hope and anticipation that the Groundhog will see his shadow and that spring is near. (Fortunately for us, it looks like an early Spring!)  February also means it’s time for award recognition. From the Grammys to the Oscars to the American Moving & Storage Association Awards – February means award season!

Each year the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) recognizes industry leaders on their commitment to excellence. The top award is the Agent of the Year Service Excellence Award. We are extremely proud to announce that northAmerican Van Lines agent University Moving & Storage has been recognized as the AMSA 2015 “Agent of the Year.”

“The Agent of the Year Service Excellence Award’ reflects AMSA’s and the moving industry’s commitment to excellent customer service, and is presented to agents nominated by their affiliated van line based on customer surveys and van line experience. Nominations for this highly coveted award are judged primarily on customer service assessments and other industry awards and recognitions. Consideration is also given to factors such as leadership, innovation, community involvement, and activities that enhance the industry’s image.

University Moving & Storage, a full-service relocation company based in Farmington Hills Michigan, operates out of five locations in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Elise Benedict, owner and CEO of University Moving & Storage, bought the company in 1986 during a severe recession and at a time when women-owned businesses were hard to find – not to mention women-owned moving companies. President Bill Gray joined University Moving & Storage in 1989, becoming a partner in 1995. Together, Benedict and Gray have grown the company from the 400th North American Van Line agent to the 15th spot in just three years.

University Moving & Storage has achieved success by focusing on customer satisfaction and creating lifelong customers with the mantra, “Every call counts and every customer matters.” The company sets quality standards for every member of the organization, including crew members, drivers and salespeople. Every team member is held to a quality standard, making the necessary measures to ensure customer satisfaction. This commitment proves that University’s place as a leading quality agent in the van line industry is no accident. And, under President Bill Gray’s leadership, University has been able to secure and retain high quality drivers and key operational personnel.

On top of University’s commitment to customer satisfaction, the company is also dedicated to giving back to charitable and community organizations. University Moving & Storage, as a northAmerican Van Lines agent, is a proud supporter of Move for Hunger, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Mott’s Childrens Hospital, Wounded Warriors, and the Gary Sinise Foundation.

“This recognition is so fitting for University Moving & Storage and well deserved” says Andy Kroll, Vice President & General Manager, northAmerican Van Lines. “With their commitment to maintaining top-quality service levels and attention to social awareness in the communities we live, serve and operate, University is a distinguished asset to our van line and always delivers on its promise of providing professional relocation services for all customers. On behalf of northAmerican Van Lines, and more important our customers, we congratulate and thank Elise, Bill and the entire team at University for their dedication and professionalism.” Go North!
