Located just 23 miles south of Washington, D.C., Waldorf was settled before 1900. It was primarily a rural crossroads with a train station and was called “Beantown” after a local family. John Wilkes Booth once sought medical attention from Dr. Samuel Mudd, who was living in nearby Clinton, Maryland. Dr. Mudd’s home has been restored and turned into a museum.
For those looking for outdoor activities, the Capital Clubhouse offers an ice rink, skating, rock climbing walls, an indoor sports court and full gym. Instruction in both skating and hockey is available. You’ll also find bowling alleys and a number of golf courses available to test your skills.
