This is also a relaxing place to go camping or picnicking next to the Plum Creek Greenway Trail, where you can enjoy year-round activities such as hiking, sledding and horseback riding.

Located a short distance from Crete is the Brookfield Zoo, which has everything from butterflies to big cats. For adult fun, you can go to Balmoral Park Race Track in town to watch harness racing and have a leisurely meal. You can also go golfing at the public Balmoral Woods Estates Country Club, which is located on over 280 acres of rolling wooded hills. The club is the site of several golf tournaments, including state PGA events and the county’s annual championship.
