At North American, you never have to worry about the price changing unexpectedly.
Our PriceLock program ensures that the price you are quoted in your estimate is
the price you will ultimately receive. We also believe that any reputable moving
company should meet with you in your home to get a true idea of how much your move
will cost. Over the phone estimates are not always reliable.
- How many years has North American been involved in consumer moves?
Established in 1933, North American Van Lines just recently celebrated our 75th
anniversary. Since the beginning, North American has offered all types of moves,
including military, corporate and consumer. We have a long history of satisfied
customers, competitive prices and professional services.
- Is North American a member of the American Moving and Storage Association and
the Better Business Bureau?
North American Van Lines has been a member of AMSA, or the American Moving and Storage
Association, since January 1, 1949. North American has also been a Better Business
Bureau Accredited business since February 1984. We support the BBB's services to
the public, and we meet the BBB Accreditation standards. In addition, we participate
in the BBB Identification Program and have agreed to any special procedures deemed
necessary by the BBB to obtain their positive support.
- Does North American Van Lines have a DOT number?
We are fully endorsed by the Department of Transportation, which provides us our
DOT number, 070851.
- What kind of insurance does North American have and are all employees insured
when working in my home so that I am not held liable in case of an injury or accident?
North American is fully insured and also requires its agents and their independent
contractors to maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
- Does North American have a labor screening program through which its helpers
receive criminal background checks for your move?
North American Van Lines administers a program that requires it agents to perform
criminal background checks on all labor supplied to drivers performing household
good moves and training to ensure their competency and ability to handle our customers'
belongings. We also take the quality of our moves very seriously. That's why we've
developed a set of metrics and programs to improve your moving experience, including
a quality index, a professional driver development program and a driver quality
performance rating.
- What type of valuation or liability and damage protection does North American
offer to ensure that my belongings are protected during the move? (It is also essential
to check with your insurance provider to make sure you are covered during the move).
North American Van Lines take every precaution to ensure that your possessions arrive
in the same condition as they left. Sometimes, however, an item might get damaged.
Therefore, we offer valuation protection, a program that resolves the situation
quickly, keeping you happy throughout the entire move process. You can choose the
basic valuation protection, which comes at no additional cost; or you can choose
to purchase maximum valuation protection, whichever amount of protection is right
for you and your belongings.
- Is North American equipped to handle my art, collectibles, appliances, electronics,
heavy furniture, and storage needs?
North American is well equipped to handle any items that you need moved, including
appliances, electronics or heavy furniture. We will help you plan which belongings
should go on the truck, and which valuables might require special care, such as
high-value artwork and collections. We can arrange for whatever special services
you need for storing or moving your belongings.
- What kind of packaging materials and techniques will be used to protect my belongings?
More than anything else, packing well is essential for an overall successful move.
North American Van Lines can take care of as much or as little packing as you'd
like. We use only the highest quality packing materials, including boxes made from
recycled materials, patented shrink wrap to protect your largest most expensive
items, and heavy duty moving pads. All of these items will serve to protect your
home, prevent damage and give you peace of mind.
- Will North American be doing the move themselves or sub-contracting my move
out?
North American Van Lines does not sub-contract out our full-service, local, intrastate
or interstate moving jobs. We have agents in our network who are authorized to service
these moves under the North American Van Lines name.
- If time allows, will North American allow me to visit their local agent's office,
check out their trucks and storage facilities and make sure they are who they say
they are?
We recommend that every customer, whether moving with North American Van Lines or
not, visit the office of the mover's local agent to inspect and review their office,
storage facilities and trucks. With North American, we know that after you visit
any of our agent locations, you will feel reassured that your belongings are being
